Latest video of this week's progress:
[I know, I know...some of the audio clips are not correct, the functionality is there, I just gotta rewrite the text for each narrated clip and replace the Audi clips]
This week marked significant progress in the development of the capstone project. One of the major accomplishments was the completion of the internal machinery for the gramophone. All gears and rotations were meticulously assembled, ensuring smooth functionality and authentic replication of historical mechanisms.
In addition to the mechanical aspects, substantial work was dedicated to enhancing the user experience through scripting. A sophisticated script was developed, leveraging an array of structs to map essential components within the gramophone. This allows users to interact seamlessly with the device, clicking buttons to access corresponding audio clips, text, and other relevant content.
Furthermore, attention was given to refining the overall aesthetics of the project. While addressing minor issues with wallpapers, a decision was made to prioritize functionality over trivial design changes. This strategic approach ensures that development efforts are focused on critical aspects until usability testing provides insights for further refinements.
Another notable achievement was the refinement of a highly scalable script designed to facilitate smooth transitions between different segments of the experience. This script dynamically triggers AI-narrated audio clips based on the user's progression, ensuring continuity and immersion throughout the journey. By integrating this feature, the project offers a cohesive and engaging narrative flow.
Looking ahead, action items for the upcoming week have been outlined. These include preparations for usability testing, which will provide invaluable feedback for optimizing user interactions and overall experience. Additionally, development efforts will continue with a focus on building the music store scene and scripting various user interactions within that environment. By maintaining momentum and addressing key objectives, the project remains on track for successful completion
Thankfully, I was able to find a lot of gear assets (FOR FREE!!) so I didnt spend a penny out of pocket. Disregard that giant gramophone In the background - for the interaction where user goes inside, I was going to take them to another scene, but changed my mind since scene loading  takes forever in VR, and instead will just shrink them.

I've been watching countless YouTube videos of people dismantling and cleaning gramophones, just to understand how the pieces are assembled...But apparently not all gramophone models looked the same on the inside, so there is no "one way" that it's supposed to look. So While I am certain I am ready with the internal machine, I am open to being fact checked and fixing anything accordingly. I don't expect my users to be inside the gramophone for a long time, its mainly to give them a high level overview of how things worked mechanically, etc.

Reference videos: I had to rewind/rewatch several videos and realized different gramophones had a different internal machine system (NOT ALL ARE CREATED EQUAL) but I tried to model it as close as possible.

New wallpapers. Using "color blocking" to accentuate the red floor and coming with the gold motifs of art deco.
