User Testing
• I have conducted 3 user tests so far with my managers.
• All moderated, in-person tests were conducted over a week
Insights:
• All participants completed the experience until post credits
• They all expressed a good user experience, and praised the intro VR tutorial being pivotal in understand how to navigate the experience; no help was given by the researcher to avoid bias
• Small issues included multiple audios playing simultaneously, and the speed of shrinking/growing being too abrupt
• Suggestions included ability to ‘grab’ records, making audio narration shorter, and include subtitles alongside the audio
• All participants learned basic knowledge of gramophones, records and expressed interest in exploring future iterations and desired more content

Participants during a moderated usability test. Little to no guidance was given, and they were able to complete the experience with minimal issues. All participants consented to being record and have their photo used for this case study.

The testing environment: a small office at my job. I needed to ensure consistent environment and conditions such as good lighting, a whiteboard for any ideation that may occur, etc.

The apparatus: Meta Quest 3.

XR Cassette Short Demo:
I made a very short teaser at the end of the experience for XR Cassette (or walkman idk what to call It yet)... I want to preview the aesthetic I am aiming for in the next chapter, I will not be using a rotating platform as the gimmick, I will use a different gimmick informed by user research.

Why does this matter?
I want users to know where the project is headed; the vision of what I originally intended in the VR music gallery, and how I plan to leverage VR to take user through a journey across decades.

Fun fact: one of my users said he 'can't wait until 2050' when music streaming is vintage enough that we do a XR experience about its history lol...(assuming by then XR itself isn't vintage).
I made another playlist for you!!
Artwork by me (because I'm a nerd that still designs on his time off...)
